Summer is here, which means sunshine, warm weather, and, of course, allergies. Many people suffer from seasonal discomfort brought on by pollen and other irritants, bringing on symptoms like runny noses, watery eyes, difficulty breathing, aches, pains, and generally bad feelings.
If you’re the type of person to sneeze at the mere mention of hay fever, then you’re in luck, because here at Holton Chiropractic Center, we know how to treat these conditions in ways that can reduce or eliminate even your most severe reactions. But first, let’s take a quick look at what allergies are.
In a nutshell, allergies are a form of inflammation. Your body recognizes something harmful and tries to treat it by sending increased blood flow, or even outright attacking, the affected area. The difference between needing an occasional tissue and spending your next paycheck on Benadryl comes from how balanced our systems are. An allergic reaction occurs when the body either finds your normal environment threatening, or is thrown off by stress and a poor diet, leading to hypersensitivity. Your body will then release histamines for all sorts of minor aggravations, leading to the irritating symptoms we work so hard to avoid.
Luckily, these problems can be reduced by eating right and getting routine chiropractic treatments. Chiropractic adjustments have excellent benefits for the whole nervous system, which is responsible for allergic reactions; resetting poorly aligned vertebra and fixing dysfunctional movement reduced irritation throughout the muscles and bones. Many people have reported alleviated allergies from such treatments, because chiropractic medicine reduces hypersensitivity and helps the body find its natural balance.
Our office also offers nutritional consultation. When asked, most people will say their diet is fine, but is it? We live in a nation that feels it’s “healthy” to take several pills a day to manage conditions like high blood pressure, low sex drive, and digestive issues like irritable bowl syndrome—not to mention seasonal allergies! The fact is, proper diet and exercise can get most people off all medications, reduce their daily discomfort, and bring feelings of wholeness and wellness. If you’re currently suffering from a chronic but curable condition, or taking medication for something that could be fixed naturally, then maybe your diet could use some tweaks.
If you’ve been afflicted, impaired, or disabled by your allergies, it’s time to make a change. Take back your health by coming to our office for a wellness consultation, and we’ll get you feeling right as rain in no time.
